I need to start off by saying, I am not a paranormal kind of girl. However, this book is so much more than just a mystical adventure. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions that will have you laughing one minute, getting aroused and then crying after that. The story blew my mind not to mention the narration was fantastic. You could easily decipher between the many characters.

Accepting the Moon is the prequel to Midnight Moonrising, you meet Mena and a world she is newly introduced to. This world has a few characters that are not so human, they are werewolves, vampires, witches and lions (oh my).

Midnight Moonrising continues where Accepting the Moon leaves off, at Mena’s husbands funeral. The humans are not aware that Mena actually killed him and was bitten by him changing her into a werewolf. She now has taken over his position as the Alpha of her pack.

Mena is introduced to her pack and starts to learn her role. All while playing the devastated widow and avoiding questions from the homicide officer, who happens to have the hots for her. She makes an announcement to her pack that there will no longer be a vampire vs werewolf war because she and the King vampire, Phoenix, has made a peace treaty. (I personally think it’s because she is attracted to the gorgeous blood sucker.)

Okay, here comes the twist…Mena can talk to her inner she-wolf. She shouldn’t be able to but she has the ability. It’s because her pack failed to inform her she needed to name her inner she – wolf when she was bitten. It so happens that the she-wolf has plans of her own and will not tell Mena her name. In order to correct this error they need to find another alpha to bond with in hopes to find out the she-wolf’s name. This is where we meet Ace, an arrogant, bad-ass Alpha lion.

Once Mena and Ace bond they become inseparable, forming this love triangle between her, Ace and Phoenix. Who does Mena end up choosing? The hot, sexy vampire king, Phoenix? Or Ace, the egotistical but oh so sexy Alpha Lion?

I was told by fans of this series and the author, I needed to pick a side #TEAMPHOENIX or #TEAMACE….so I have been doing some soul searching and weighting the pros and cons and I can’t make up my mind because I love them both. Now, if you ask me who I think Mena needs to choose, I think Phoenix. Ace needs someone else like a certain vampire kings assistant. I guess I will have to wait for the sequel, Andromeda’s Reign which will be released on May 12 to find out more.

Rating – 4 stars
Kinkiness – 3 stars – because there is a crazy spell that intertwines the major players of the wolf pack and the vampires. (They can feel each others feelings)
