I first came across Christina on Twitter. Her poems there immediately grabbed me. She had this way of bringing you into her story, of reaching through the screen and demanding your attention. It doesn’t hurt that she is an incredibly smart, strong woman.
When I learned of her poetry chapbook, “Your Ink On My Soul,” I knew I wanted it. I’m pretty picky about which poetry books I buy, but I was already enamored by the way her words grabbed me. The chapbook didn’t disappoint. Her words portray a raw innocence. They are both beautiful and filled with this fearlessness, much like the woman behind the words.
My favorite piece is called “One Thousand.” It resonated with me, as if I had written it myself. She speaks of the sky and stars and colors and photos and songs, tying it all back into love and poetry, bold and bittersweet. In the piece called “Waves,” she manages to say so much with so few words.
With her chapbook, Ms Strigas has definitely written her ink upon my soul. I can’t wait to see more poetry books from her.
This one certainly gets 5 stars
